We are making some improvements to the way you access care at Forest Health Group, using a system called Klinik. This will take effect from the 7th of March and will change how you contact us here at the surgery, so please read the following carefully.
We know that some of you have struggled to access appointments and there are many reasons for this but to put it simply, it is because demand on General Practice has increased yet resources to meet that demand have not. Forest Health Group is currently managing 80% more demand than this period 2 years ago and we have listened to those who have told us of the impact of this increase in demand on their ability to access our help. We are confident that the decision to switch to Klinik combined with shared working alongside our team of specialist nurses, paramedics, physiotherapists, pharmacists and mental health practitioners will allow our GPs to see the patients who need us, when they need us.
How Klinik will change access to care
If you require an appointment for a medical problem, you will need to call the surgery on 01344 421 364. Please be prepared to describe your problem to our care navigators who will then be able to direct you to the most appropriate clinician to help you.
Our care navigators do not decide if or when you receive an appointment, they are here to help so please treat them with respect. Please note the practice has a zero-tolerance policy towards abuse of our staff.
Online access to appointments will continue to be available via the Klinik platform on our website for the following:
- Vaccinations including travel vaccinations / travel advice
- Long term condition reviews eg. asthma, diabetes, heart disease
- Medication reviews for HRT and contraception and antidepressant medication
- Fit notes
- NHS health checks
- Requests for insurance reports and GP letters
- Queries regarding existing referrals
- Test results
Requests for repeat prescriptions should be made via patient access. Patient Access – GP appointments & prescriptions online
You may use Klinik to request a medication that you have been prescribed previously but does not appear in your repeat medication list.
We know that the switch to Klinik comes on the back of a number of changes over the last 4 years, as we have strived for ways to meet the constantly-changing challenges we face in General Practice. We have felt the strain of those changes as a practice, as much as you have as patients. But one thing that has not and will not change, is our drive to improve things for you as much as we can, within the limits of the resources we have.
We know that there are some who will miss our old system and many who will be glad of the difference, but we are a service for everyone and are confident that this is the best way to deliver the equality of care that all our patients deserve.
We thank you in advance for your patience and your co-operation.
