Please note that due to vaccine supply limitations we will be unable to do vaccines for children in reception class and school years one, two, three and four at the GP surgery. These children will be vaccinated at their school.
If you or anyone you know or care for who is eligible are unable to attend any of the dates above, please contact the surgery for an appointment on 01344 421364/01344 306613.
Are you aged over 65? Do you have heart disease, kidney disease, liver disease, neurological disease, COPD, asthma needing inhaled steroids, diabetes, or have you ever had a stroke or mini-stroke? Are you immunosuppressed (e.g. splenectomy) or are you on immunosuppression medication? Are you pregnant? If so – we recommend an annual free flu vaccine.
Please contact reception to book your appointment.
An annual nasal spray flu vaccine is available for all children aged two and three years as part of the NHS childhood vaccination programme. Over time, as the programme rolls out, all children between the ages of two and 16 will be vaccinated against flu each year with the nasal spray.
The nasal spray flu vaccine is also for children aged two to 18 who are ‘at risk’ from flu, such as children with long-term health conditions. The vaccine is given as a nasal spray squirted up each nostril. Not only is it needle-free (a big advantage for children), the nasal spray works even better than the injected flu vaccine in children. It’s quick and painless and will mean your child is less likely to become ill if they come into contact with the flu virus. Its brand name is Fluenz.
