The practice has had a Patient Participation Group (PPG) since 2007 with the aim of helping communication between the practice and the patients.
It is not always convenient or practical to discuss certain matters during a routine consultation. So, if you have any suggestions or enquiries about the surgery you may like to talk to the PPG or if you would like to find out more about the PPG, please do not hesitate to contact us. We would be particularly interested in hearing about any services or information (e.g. support groups) you would like to see in the practice.
If you are a registered patient, you can apply to be a member of the PPG. The PPG hold meetings approximately every two months and new supporters are always welcome. (You do not have to commit to come to every meeting).
If you would like to help us in any way, please contact Mrs Isabel Mattick 01344 420997 or Mrs Melanie Brown, Practice Manager, 01344 421364 or via email at [email protected].
Please be assured that any contact will be confidential and that the PPG does not hold any information on patients nor passes on such information to third parties.
What is a Patient Participation Group (PPG)?
A PPG is a group of patients registered with a GP surgery who have no medical training but have an interest in the services provided.
What is the aim of a PPG?
The aim of the PPG is to represent patients’ views and cross barriers, embracing diversity and to work in partnership with the surgery to improve common understanding. PPGs are making a real difference across the UK.
What is the purpose of a PPG?
- To give practice staff and patients the opportunity to discuss topics of mutual interest in their practice
- To encourage support and health education activities within the practice
- To help patients understand the current challenges faced in general practice
- To act as a representative group that can be called upon to influence the local provision of health and social care
Could you help with any of the following…
Did you know along with the surgery the PPG run ‘awareness evenings’? Is there a medical subject/condition or topic that you think would be useful for the next planned event?
Would you be interested in taking time to spend in the surgery waiting room to help/advise patients, for example, the use of our surgery pod? (Training can be arranged)
Could you design a Poster? This could help prevent patients from missing prearranged GP and Nurse appointments. Poster to be displayed in the surgery, and maybe pharmacies and libraries.
Do you have any suggestions or subjects which you would like our PPG to raise, discuss and act upon?
